Rebrand rebrand to TALK COMICS TO ME! Because classes have started, I yap so much about the craft, the books I love, the industry, and I’ve heard more than once that I should write down all these names and books I throw out.
I had the most fun revising a lecture for my traditional materials class and I just love gathering the greatest of all time inkers in my brain. So much more that I haven’t mentioned.
Beyond what’s in the strip, please check out Kamome Shirahama, Q Hayashida, and Jun Mayuzuki.

The Man Without Talent by Yoshiharu Tsuge
While the overall tone of this book is this weird, sad, absurdity, the main character has a wife who begs him to draw comics and that definitely gave me a lil hee hee ha haha.
Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou by Hitoshi Ashinano
This has been my lil bedtime manga when I can’t sleep or I wake up too early. It’s about the quiet life of a robot who lives in a post-natural-disaster Japan. Incredibly charming, occasionally sapphic.
Aoi Honoo by Shimamoto Kazuhiko
Manga about this dude obsessed with manga and after reading a couple of chapters, he’s drawn no comics whatsoever so pretty accurate I would say (has a Hideaki Anno cameo).

I literally just started reading Witch Hat Atelier, and, needless to say, I’m absolutely obsessed with Shirahama’s line work (so absolutely love that they’re included in this list!)
